FokiaNou Art Space is pleased to present a three-day group exhibition curated by artist/gallerist Christian Schmid. Schmid runs the Showroom Schmitt, an independent Art Space in Karlsruhe, Germany, and as part of an exchange with FokiaNou Art Space, will host artists from Athens at the end of the month.
This exchange provides an opportunity to introduce German artists to Athens, as well as giving Greek artists exposure in Germany.
The artists were part of the exhibition „Locals only“ that took place in February 2025 at Showroom Schmitt in Karlsruhe. This was an alternative artshow to the „Art Karlsruhe“, an annual commercial art fair.All artists are very glad to see themselves again in Athens at Fokianou. Thats where the title comes from:
„Karlsruhe – Athen. Auf Wiedersehen!“
Colorful facets of individual life worlds can be discovered under the sun of the south, f. e. a multiple out of humble materials, the grimacing portrayal of the leader of the free world or a delicately painted pool and an immersive cinema experience.
Some pieces delve into conspiracy theories, other exhibits address monetary realities: these are reflections on one’s own creation – existentially.
FoKiaNou Art Space is an artist-run project space in the intimacy of a small apartment in an old building in the center of Athens. The apartment has been transformed into an open space that encourages collaborative creative efforts between Greek and foreign artists, thereby promoting and supporting the local art community. The space hosts exhibitions, workshops and projects under the direction of two artists, Mary Cox and Panagiotis Voulgaris.
